About This Event
Walden with Daniel Lerner
Hailing from the musical mecca of Athens, Georgia, Walden pays homage to the city’s rich legacy while presenting a new atmospheric rock sound of their own. Walden burst onto the scene with their release of The Green Lights EP in 2018, playing shows across the nation, including festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, KAABOO Del Mar, Summerfest, Suwannee Hulaween, and Sloss Music & Arts Festival. Walden has directly supported renowned acts including Moon Taxi, Band of Horses, and Twiddle.
Comprised of Richard Becker (vocals/guitar), Jamie de Lange (bass), Eric Hangartner (vocals/piano) and Andrew Mendel (drums) the quartet has remained just that ever since. These four young men have captured the attention of audiences of all ages with their raw sound, infectious energy, and the undeniable connection they share on stage. Walden found their sonic vision by blending their authentic rock influences of the past such as Coldplay and U2, with modern acts such as Bon Iver, Tame Impala, and Local Natives.
While 2020 proved to be a pivoting year for many, they took the year’s challenges in stride by releasing three new singles with accompanying music videos— “Daydreams”, a reflection on great times that have come to pass, “Changing”, an anthem of relinquishing the weight of negativity, and lastly “Green Lights – Isolation Mix”, a reimagined version of their original 2018 recording inspired by the many months spent in isolation during the pandemic. In addition to new music, Walden signed a sync deal with BMG Fieldhouse and was placed on multiple Spotify-curated playlists, including New Music Friday Italia.
Daniel Lerner is proud to release his single “In Your Way”’ off his new album of indie rock and dream-pop material titled There’s Something I Wanted To Say. The concept of the album title was born out of spending a long time trying to hone a sound as an artist, not knowing what to say. So this is his introduction of his sound to the world, his current truest self, that “something.” Lyrically, this album navigates and explores issues from the pains of growing up and learning from your past mistakes (“Young”), letting go of unhealthy relationships (“Speakeasy”), and mental health (“Humble Giant”).
A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Lerner grew up with musicians throughout his hometown of New York City. In 2019, he produced and mixed two singles, “Out of the Equation” and “Deus Ex Machina.” Later that same year, he co-wrote and sang on “Honey Lemon” with Freaky Pat and Cam Evans. In 2020, Lerner co-wrote and played guitar with Sabel and Reed Gaines on “Eventually.” Most recently his single “I’ll Be Patient (If You’ll Be Kind)” was released in May 2020.
